At the age of 71, Eddy Cheung (Chi Ping) passed away. He is survived by his wife Helen, 4 children, Carol, Derek, Kelvin, and Tiffany, and 4 grandchildren.
Eddy will never be forgotten for his amazing laugh, resilience, and giant heart. As a young boy, he moved to Canada where he built a love and passion for the culinary arts, racehorses, and golf. Throughout his career, he opened 11 Harvey’s restaurants and 9 Chinese restaurants. In 1996 he moved to Chicago to begin a new culinary adventure where he opened Phoenix Restaurant, voted one of the top 10 Asian cuisines and after, Jade Court. Throughout his life, he has shared his love through food and endless generosity.
Eddy was an inspiration to his family and friends. He led by example and showed love through action, working tirelessly to provide for his family. Eddy showed constant unconditional love and support towards his children and wife. He made sure that every customer and person he met was greeted with a jolly laugh and kindness, which in turn created many new friendships that became his extended family.
Eddy’s life and love for his family and friends will always be remembered and cherished. A service will be held as a celebration of his life at Dalcamo Funeral Home on Wednesday, 3rd July,2019.
