IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rose P.Y.
Lee
August 30, 1926 – December 19, 2025
Rose Lee (née Poy Yuk Wong), a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devout Catholic, passed away peacefully with family at her side on December 19, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 99.
Born in Toi-San, China, Rose was raised in a family shaped by hard work and responsibility. Her father was a local businessman who operated a match factory, and her mother devoted herself to caring for a large family. Rose's education was disrupted by the Japanese invasion during World War II, and she spent part of that time living at a boarding school. She graduated from high school as the war came to an end and married her husband, Boon Man Lee, in 1945.
After their marriage, the couple lived for several years in their hometown, then in Canton City, and later in Hong Kong, where they spent fourteen years. During that time, they operated a home-based garment factory, overseeing the entire production process from yarn to finished garments. After immigrating to the United States, Rose chose a steady and practical path, working one job for twenty years until retirement as a seamstress at Oxxford Clothes, a company known for its handmade men's suits.
Rose lived her life guided by deep Catholic faith, quiet strength, and devotion to her family. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boon Man Lee, and her youngest son, Victor Lee.
May she rest in peace.
