Mee Ling Wu Chan, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, after short illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Pak Ching Chan, with whom she shared a deep and enduring love.
Mee Ling leaves behind a wonderful legacy through her children: her eldest son, Mike and his wife Karen McAlexander; her second daughter, Mary and son-in-law Dennis Leung; her third son, Carl and daughter-in-law Linda Ye; and her youngest son, Harold and his wife Maggie Wu. She was proud to be the doting grandmother to three grandsons—Brian, Anthony, and Brendan—and three granddaughters—Tiffany, Grace, and Ashley. Her circle of love continued to grow with six great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Born in Tai Shan, China, in 1953, Mee Ling embarked on a beautiful journey when she married Pak Ching Chan. Their life together took them to Hong Kong before they made the significant move to Chicago in 1975, where they embraced new opportunities and built a life filled with cherished memories. A long-time member of the Chinese Christian Union Church, Mee Ling’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and supporting her family.
Mee Ling will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and commitment to family. She touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed.
The family will welcome friends for visitation from 9 to 10:30 am on Thursday, March 5 at Dalcamo Funeral Home, located at 470 West 26th Street, Chicago. A funeral service will immediately follow at 10:30 am, with interment at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
In this time of sorrow, we celebrate the beautiful life of Mee Ling Wu Chan, whose spirit will remain forever in our hearts.
