Mannie Kin Chung Chu
May 5, 1956 - February 1, 2024
Mannie Kin Chung Chu, 67, of Chicago, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 1, 2024. He was surrounded by his loved ones in his final moments after a courageous three year battle with multiple cancers.
Mannie was the beloved husband of Josephine Tina Chu. He was the loving father to Trina (Jay) Lin, Naomi (Tommy) Arguinzoni, and Gary (Zyra) Chu. His heart was forever warmed by the presence of his cherished grandchildren: Aiden, Evan, Harper, and Casey. He was the devoted son of Kenneth and Pui Ying Yuen Chu. Mannie has one surviving sister, Susan (Charles) Lee. He is preceded in death by his grandparents and younger brother, Barry Chu.
Mannie was the eldest child of Kenneth and Pui Ying. He immigrated to the United States with his mother and siblings from Hong Kong in 1972. He graduated from Senn High School in Chicago, and attended the University of Illinois at Chicago for two years. Mannie proudly started his first job at Stone Container as a computer programmer in 1978, and was an extremely dedicated and hard worker.
On October 10, 1978 he married Josephine. Together they raised three beautiful children. He wore many hats ranging from delivery driver, server, bartender, best "dad joke" teller, supportive husband, patient and loving father, and #1 fan of his grandchildren. He always encouraged his children to excel in everything they believed in, and never had any regrets. Mannie was a talented self-taught musician, a lover of Chinese food, and a God serving man.
