IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jun "Jon"
Wong
March 25, 1940 – December 19, 2023
Jun 'Jon' Wong, 83, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. Jon will be remembered as a deeply caring father/grandfather. Jon came to America as a young 8-year old boy and lived in Chinatown Chicago - a few years right after WWII. With his parents (the late Wah and Helen Wong), they immigrated with nothing more than the clothes they could carry and worked tirelessly to save money to open a small Chinese carry out in Broadview. Jon (with his parents) worked around the clock at the family restaurant and, during this time, he also got a college degree at IIT. He was a proud father who loved to speak about his family successes and current events. One important fact to note is that although he had various degrees of work success (Some Facts: he helped design the fuselage on the Saturn rocket in the 60's; designer of multiple small appliances for Sunbeam Corporation, etc), his largest commercial success was being the first commercial engineer of the cordless screwdriver for Skil Bosch Corporation where he won the Emerson Technological Award some 35+ years ago.
Jon is the beloved husband and survived by Elaine Wong and his children Sharon (Bob) Guidarelli; Alden (Chun) Wong; and Emmet (Carol) Wong. In addition, he leaves behind multiple grandchildren (Ethan/Jaya/Leah and Hannah Wong). All who met Jon will remember him for his engaging personality; knowledge of current events; financial acumen; and quick wit. All of us who met Jon will say the same thing - he will be deeply missed by all of us.
