IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joe
Lee
July 9, 1954 – February 11, 2025
Joe Lee, resident of the Chinatown area in Chicago Illinois, passed away on February 11, 2025. He was 70 years old. Joe is survived by his mother, Wai Kan Doo, sisters Patricia Randall and Lila Lee, niece Kelly Randall, and great-niece Amber Klut with her three children Abel, Adalynn and Ace Rosado.
Joe grew up in the South Shore neighborhood of Chicago. He attended Bradwell elementary school, followed by South Shore High School, where he served in the ROTC, and finished up his education, majoring in computer programming, at the then named, DeVry Institute of Technology. Subsequently, he went to work for American Steel Foundries in the Chicago Loop, as a computer programmer for over a decade before leaving to pursue other computer-related interests.
Joe was an avid sports fan, following both the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox teams over his lifetime. He was also a huge movie fan, favoring science fiction, supernatural, horror and fantasy films. At one time he was as an usher in the Loop movie theaters. He liked to research real-life stories of UFOs, alien abductions and the unknown on the internet, and he also loved dinosaurs.
Aside from these personal pursuits, he became a full-time caretaker for his father, who passed away in 1985 and subsequently for his mother, while also attending to his responsibilities as a landlord on his Chinatown property.
Joe will be sorely missed. He was kind to everyone he met and open to discuss any topic to any extreme to anyone who was willing to listen. He was well-loved by his family and friends.
