Wong
April 7, 1931 – November 6, 2025
Esther was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia. She moved to Chicago to attend University and met Gary Wong at church. Esther along with their brother John Tan, was active in the Chinese community of Chicago and was a member of the Chinese American Development Corporation. Later in life, she served as a board member for the Chinatown Square Association.
Esther found joy in life's simple pleasure, baking, sewing, knitting and spending time in her garden. She was blessed with four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews whom she enjoyed spending time with.
Esther is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Wong, with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage. She is also survived by her daughters, Shirley (Jeff) Scribner, Sandra (Kenneth) Hoey, her grandchildren, Parker, and Joel Scribner, Kaytlin and Morgan Hoey.
