David Baker Smith

September 19, 1950 – November 22, 2023

David Baker Smith was born in Neosho, Missouri on September 19, 1950 to the Rev. Arthur Beverly and Florence (nee Baker) Smith. Dave attended Belleville Township High School West in Belleville, Illinois. Upon graduating from high school, Dave attended Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois, later transferring to the University of Illinois at Chicago from which he graduated in 1974. Upon graduation, Dave went to work as Records Manager for the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission. In 1983, Dave became the Records Manager at Chapman & Cutler LLP, retiring in June 2018 after 35 years of service to the firm. Dave was a longtime resident of Bridgeport and proudly cheered for the Chicago White Sox. Dave would want to be remembered for his passion for music and vintage trains, his devotion to many rescue cats, and as a loving son, dear brother, doting uncle, and loyal and generous friend. Dave is survived by his brother Arthur (Tracey Truesdale); nephews and niece Arthur (Eve Glasergreen), Sarah (Marc Bertucco), and Thomas; and great-nephew Peter. Dave will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who he made wherever he went.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 1pm at Dalcamo Funeral Home.
