Pauline Luke, age 92 of Chicago Illinois passed away peacefully Monday
July 29th at JourneyCare of Barrington from natural causes. Born May
16, 1927 in Chicago, daughter of Paul Chin Moy and Lillian Wong Moy.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Luke (1926-2012) who she
married in 1950. She was also preceded by sister Mary Yee (nee Moy),
Albertine Gin (“Teeny”) nee Moy, Annette Leong Hong nee Moy, Jessee
(“Betty”) Wong nee Moy, brother Robert Moy, sister Elinor (“Clara”) Fung
nee Moy, Joan Rowland nee Moy, Jean Hong nee Moy, Celia Cheung nee Moy
She was a lifelong resident of Chicago’s Chinatown. She worked at Sears
Roebuck & Company , was a co-owner of Luke’s Café on the corner of
Cermak and Wentworth and worked for Lekel Chop Suey Pail Company. She
was an active member and past president and secretary of
Chinese-American Civic Council, and volunteer with many charitable
organizations helping the Chinese-American community. She was a past
president of Chinatown American Legion Post 1003 Auxillary, past
president of the Olga Huncke Scholarship fund, treasurer of the Chicago
Chinese Women’s Club, and member of the senior program for Chinese
American Civic Council. She was recognized by the Chicago Lung
Association for her volunteering efforts and contributions. She also
volunteered at the Chinatown station of the Chicago Marathon handing out
water to the runners. She loved doing cross word puzzles, and watching
Steve Harvey, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and other game shows.
She is survived by her daughter Pauletta Bruné, nee Luke, son in law
Richard Bruné, son Randee Luke, Grandson Marshall Bruné (married to
Stephanie Bruné nee Jaeckel), Great grandchildren Peter Bruné, Sophia
Bruné, Joseph Bruné, Titus Bruné, Maristella Bruné, Thaddeus Bruné, her
Sister Alyce Gee nee Moy, and many nieces and nephews. She will be
fondly remembered for her generosity and love of life, especially for
her large family with whom she was very close.
Wake and visitation begins 9 A.M. Friday August 9th at Dalcamo Funeral
Home 470 W. 26th Street, Chicago, IL. Funerall service starting at
11 A.M. at the funeral home, luncheon to follow immediately after the
service. Cremation Private. Later internment at Mt Auburn Cemetery will be private. For
